This DVD is sneaky hard. Yes, it is a lot of flat riding along the oceans, but no, it is anything but a cakewalk if you choose to ride a steady state at a high pace. However, it is true that this DVD offers the greatest range for abilities, since you can do it at a recovery level steady state, or at a time trial steady state – you choose, and our three coaches will help you along the way.
Finding Our Way
This short segment should put you in the mood. For about 5 minutes you travel along the ocean, ideally zeroing in on your target heart rate for the entire ride. If the coach you have selected is not riding a “steady state” type workout, then this ride segment should help you simply make final physical and mental preparations to follow that coach.
Local Treasures
Herein lies the heart of our endurance ride today. This section is not “flat as a panckake”, but flat sections separated by mild rollers. This can be ridden as a pure steady state, or even aerobic intervals if so desired. In both cases though, this provides an excellent mental challenge, providing a section long enough to require a good bit of mental focus, but with a prize ending bit of scenery with a smooth paved road so close to the ocean, you’ll swear you can feel the crashing waves.
Sunset Finish
By the time the last section is complete, every rider should be “in the zone”, and ready to top off with a final bit of endurance riding. The Sunset Finish is just that kind of “icing on the cake”. With the sun behind us, we watch the mountains bathed in a soft low light as we ride flat to slight grades to a strong finish of the Oceanside Endurance ride.
